Alexia Avina is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born and raised in Southeast Asia, previously based in Montreal and now living in New York City, whose heavenly music is rooted in ambient, folk and dreampop traditions.
“I go unnoticed, the fault of no one”, she sings on ‘Human’ - an instantly engrossing hit of haunting melodicism and elegant restraint. It’s a song all about “getting entangled with your own ego in the yearning for love,” says Alexia, “how there is something much vaster behind the layer of self, and yet it’s incredibly easy to get caught again and again in the cult of self-importance.”
‘Human’ is the second track to be shared from her forthcoming new album A Little Older, which will be released on April 29, 2022 on limited-edition CD and digital platforms. It follows the release last year of the blistering single ‘How Can I Learn’, and before that in 2020, Alexia’s debut album for Lost Map, the intoxicating Unearth, which received support from Paste, GoldFlakePaint and Clash among others.
